While aid and charitable efforts are vital, they have proven insufficient to end systemic hunger, which is often caused by political and legal failures. The IFST provides the crucial missing tool: enforceable law. It establishes a clear legal standard and accountability, ensuring that hunger cannot be used as a political weapon and that governments are legally obligated to protect everyone within their borders from malnutrition and starvation.
The International Food Security Treaty is a well-founded human rights convention proposal that has received public support from many political, governmental, and religious leaders and now aims to gather sufficient support from governments to place it before the United Nations for approval and implementation.
